Building local food self-sufficiency capacity Season 2 of the Flour Mills of Nigeria (FMN) Prize for Innovation (PFI)

Project Theme: Innovative techniques for local content development in the food and agro-allied sector.

The second edition of Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc’s annual Prize for Innovation competition has begun. The FMN Prize for Innovation seeks to draw attention to fresh and original approaches to achieving sustainability in the Nigerian food value chain.

The goal of this year’s campaign is to support the development of local content in Nigeria’s food and agro-allied industry and promote the growth of sustainable food production.

Participants in this year’s competition will come up with unique solutions to assist a paradigm shift away from dependency on imported raw materials and toward the development of local capacities for the aim of supporting local communities.

The FMN Prize for Innovation call for applications is currently open in two categories, with the possibility to win the star prize of N5 million.

To lessen Nigeria’s reliance on food importation, FMN’s Prize for Innovation is seeking strong suggestions for enhancing local content development using previously untapped resources and technologically driven solutions.

Category 1

Eligibility

  • Micro, Small, and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs) registered in Nigeria that work in the food and agricultural processing sectors.
  • Your big idea and creative solution should prioritize the use of local content rather than continuing to rely on imported raw materials in Nigeria’s food and agro-allied sector.
  • Your project should have a strong proof-of-concept, a worthwhile social or business goal, and a well-defined path to scaling.

  • Fill out the form no later than January 5, 2023.
  • Upload a 60-second movie showcasing your inventive approaches to developing local content for the food and agro-allied industries.
  • In your presentation, you should make it very clear how your suggestion will make it easier to incorporate local content within the Nigerian food value chain.
  • Proof of registration must be submitted with your entry.

  • Your idea should have a strong proof-of-concept, a worthwhile social or business goal, and a well-defined path to scaling.

Application process

  • Fill out the form no later than January 5, 2023.
  • Upload a 60-second movie showcasing your inventive approaches to developing local content for the food and agro-allied industries.
  • In your presentation, you should make it very clear how your suggestion will make it easier to incorporate local content within the Nigerian food value chain.
